FOUNDATION SUCCESSFULLY OPENS COMMUNITY NON-PROFIT CENTER
Once a popular local supermarket, the Hawkins building was donated to the Area Agency on Aging Foundation in 2011 by Mr. Earl “Otis” Hawkins. The Foundation owns and manages what is now Hawkins Corner, and supports the missions of the seven non-profit agencies that operate within. Operating within Hawkins Corner are the following non-profit agencies: Alzheimer’s Association, Experience Works, Habitat for Humanity, Hospice of North Central Ohio, Hawkins Medical Center (operated by Third Street Family Health Services), Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc., and Visiting Nurse Association. The Foundation provides these agencies with the opportunity to share resources, and to more efficiently help consumers address multiple needs. Hawkins Corner is truly becoming a community resource, where consumers can connect with the services they need to remain safe and healthy in their home.
Hawkins Corner and the Foundation are the result of tremendous community support. As the benefits of this project begin to be realized, additional opportunities to serve the community continue to arise. The Foundation continues to depend on community support to implement new ideas and to find innovative ways to reach and serve those in need.
