Area Agency on Aging Presents $1,000 Grant to Brian Houghton

Congratulations to Brian Houghton, a 2013 recipient of a $1000.00 grant from the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc.  A resident of Mansfield, Brian is a 1999 Graduate of Willard High School and is obtaining his licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from North Central State College (NCSC) and plans to graduate in May of 2014.

 

Area Agency on Aging Chief Executive Officer Duana Patton presented the grant to Mr. Houghton at the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. at Hawkins Corner on June 20, 2013 with Area Agency on Aging employees on hand.  

 

Brian learned about the grant opportunity at NCSC and from his wife, Sherry, a LTC Consultant at the Area Agency on Aging.  In addition to his studies, Brian works at the Center for Individual & Family Services at the Crisis Center and Helpline and resides in Mansfield with his wife Sherry and son Hayden.  

 

This grant is one of six (6) $1,000.00 grants the Agency on Aging Board of Trustees elected to provide this year to individuals for higher education or classes benefitting the field of aging. Other 2013 Grant awardees include:

 

  • Anna Hairston, Ontario (Richland)

  • Lauren Fredritz, McCutchenville (Wyandot)

  • Taylor Thomas, Bellville (Richland)

  • Katlynn Gremlin, Crestline (Crawford

  • Alexandra Woods, Carey (Wyandot)

 

In addition, Kylie Mathias, New Riegel, OH (Seneca County) was selected to receive a $2500.00 Merit Scholarship.

 

The nine-county Area Agency on Aging Board supports and promotes programs for older and disabled adults. One of the Board objectives is to help others in the community learn more about the agency goals in providing leadership for adult independence.
