Free Matter of Balance Classes Now Forming

  Posted on March 4, 2014

Have you turned down a chance to go out with family or friends because you were concerned about falling? Have you cut down on a favorite activity because you might fall?

People who experience a fear of falling often limit their physical activities, which can result in loss of strength, reduced muscle tone and balance problems, making the risk of falling greater.

Matter of Balance is an evidence-based program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. Class participants will learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercise to increase strength and balance.

Matter of Balance consists of eight program classes, beginning this month at Madison Adult Education and Ashland County West Holmes Career Center. Please contact Bev Rosich at the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging at (419)522-5612 or (800) 860-5799 x1157 to register for this FREE class.
