Ontario OH – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc. is proud to announce that Jim Morris has been selected as the 2021 Wyandot County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award recipient. He was honored on Monday, August 16th at Trinity Evangelical Church in Upper Sandusky.
“This is the 21st year the Area Agency has honored a volunteer from Wyandot county,” said Nicole Williams, VP of Outreach and Development. “The past year has brought many changes to our communities but amongst these unprecedented times, we have witnessed individuals working together to support each other…to keep our communities strong.” Jim was honored at Trinity Evangelical, a place meaningful to him and his family.
Jim was nominated for the commitment and dedication he continues to provide to his community. A former engineer, Jim volunteers his time as a member of the Finance Committee, Funeral Committee, and Men with Vision group for his church. He is an elected Board Member of the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village schools while volunteering his time at the school as an aide and handyman. Jim is part of a team to help senior citizens and low-income families prepare tax returns. Jim was appointed to the Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Center Board of Education.
Each year the Area Agency on Aging honors senior citizens who are making a difference in their communities and present a positive image of aging. There is one award recipient for each county in the Agency’s service area (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot.) Awardees are selected by the Agency based on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments within the community made after reaching age 60.
