FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ontario OH – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc. is proud to announce that Judy Arnold has been selected as the 2020 Seneca County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award recipient. She was honored on Wednesday, Sep. 9th in the garden at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve in Bloomville.
“This is the 20th year the Area Agency has honored a volunteer from Seneca county,” said Teresa Cook, VP of Administrative Services. “As we all know COVID may have changed how we can get together but what hasn’t changed is the outstanding way individuals, groups and organizations are working together to support and take care of one another. Today, instead of gathering in the Area Agencies training room, we are together in the garden at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve.”
Judy was nominated for the commitment and dedication she provides to her community. She serves on the Seneca County Commission on Aging Board of Directors. Judy has volunteered for the Missoula Theater Camps for the past 15 years, Tiffin Mercy Hospital for seven years, Sharing Kitchen at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, and the Meals on Wheels program. From the start of the Friends of the Seneca County Park District organization she served as the Secretary. She has also volunteered as Secretary for the Seneca County Park District for 20 years and has been awarded the Park District’s Volunteer of the Year Award.
Each year the Area Agency on Aging honors senior citizens who are making a difference in their communities and present a positive image of aging. There is one award recipient for each county in the Agency’s service area (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot.) Awardees are selected by the Agency based on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments within the community made after reaching age 60.
