Ontario OH – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc. is proud to announce that Mary Dazey has been selected as the 2021 Seneca County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award recipient. She was honored on Thursday, August 26th at First Christian Church in Tiffin, OH.
“The beautiful city of Tiffin represents the incredible impact that Mary Dazey made,” said Nicole Williams, VP of Outreach and Development. She has lived by the motto, ‘I don’t do it because I need to, I help because I want to”, commented her family. Mary was honored in presence of family, friends, co-workers, and the President of Heidelberg University, Robert H. Huntington.
Dedicating 55 years in the Dining Hall, 10 years as Director of Dining, at Heidelberg University, she has touched thousands of students, faculty, and staff lives. Mary, a committed volunteer for several community organizations continues to practice altruism such as helping Boy Scouts, 4-H Clubs, and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Each year the Area Agency on Aging honors senior citizens who are making a difference in their communities and present a positive image of aging. There is one award recipient for each county in the Agency’s service area (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot.) Awardees are selected by the Agency based on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments within the community, made after reaching age 60.
