FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ontario, OH – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. hosted its largest event of the year as more than 750 older adults gathered at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center for the annual Senior Spring Extravaganza in celebration of Older Americans Month.

Each May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation in recognizing the contributions and diverse experiences of older adults. The 2026 Older Americans Month theme, "Champion Your Health," encourages individuals to take charge of their health and remain active, engaged, and connected within their communities.

Attendees enjoyed a day filled with information, entertainment, and celebration. More than 70 vendors were on hand to share resources, services, and programs designed to help older adults maintain their independence. The Area Agency on Aging also provided information about its programs and services that support healthy aging, education, and positive aging.

In addition to valuable resources, participants enjoyed bingo, door prizes, lunch, a photo booth, a classic car show, live entertainment by Randy Valez, and much more.

“Older Americans Month is the perfect time to celebrate and give back to the generations who have contributed so much to our communities,” said Duana Patton, CEO of the Area Agency on Aging. “By bringing together so many older adults and community partners, we are able to share valuable programs and resources that help people age well, stay connected, and continue living healthy, fulfilling lives.”

The event was made possible through the support of elite sponsors Mechanics Bank and Richland Public Health, along with the generosity of numerous community partners. A special thank you is extended to the Ontario Local School District for donating its high school prom decorations, helping transform the venue into a festive Mardi Gras-inspired celebration.
