Area Agency on Aging selects 2023 Seneca County Outstanding Senior Citizen

Ontario OH – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc., is proud to announce the 2023 Seneca County Outstanding Senior Citizen, Leonard Skonecki.

 

Mr. Skonecki served as past president of the local Historical Society for over 15 years and now serves on the board. He helps with fundraisers for the Historical Society and was in six History DVDs about the history of Fostoria. He conducts a book group every Monday afternoon for the residents of Good Shepherd Home. He helps with city tours every year for the local train festival.

 

In the presence of family, friends, and dignitaries, Leonard was honored on Wednesday, August 30th, at the Area Agency on Aging located within Hawkins Conference Center, hosted by Duana Patton, Chief Executive Officer at the Area Agency on Aging, and Jason Pailey, Corporate Board President.

 

Each year, the Area Agency on Aging honors senior citizens who are making a difference in their communities and present a positive image of aging. There is one award recipient for each county in the Agency's service area (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot).

 

Awardees must first be nominated by an individual or organization involved with seniors. They are then selected by the Agency based on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments within the community made after reaching age 60.
