Free Shred-it! event at Hawkins Corner is open to the public

Ontario, OH — The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. will host a free Shred-It event on Saturday, July 12th, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Hawkins Corner, located at 2131 Park Avenue West in Ontario.

This community event is brought to you through a grant for outreach, education, and application assistance for Medicare Beneficiaries who may qualify for assistance with Medicare Part B through the Medicare Savings Program or Medicare Part D through the Medicare Extra Help Program. This grant is made possible through the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) and is funded through the Administration for Community Living.

The Shred-It event emphasizes the importance of securely disposing of documents that contain personal information, such as outdated medical forms, bank statements, and insurance paperwork. Proper shredding helps protect older adults from identity theft, fraud, and scams.

Attendees are encouraged to bring personal documents for on-site, secure shredding—free of charge. No RSVP is needed.
